Someone posted this awhile back but I thought I would make mention of it again.

Since the DVI feature was an upgrade on the 50H82, and they have no idea when it will be released if ever, they will make a deal with you on getting the 51H83.

I was not able to get the 51H83 for free as the other user posted. They determined the DVI upgrade would be $400 so if interested, call Toshiba and tell them you want the DVI upgrade. They told me I would have to wait. I made mention that this was not sold as a future upgrade but a readily available upgrade and sounded a lot like false advertisement. I then sent an email to corporate Toshiba and had a phone call 20 minutes later with the offer of the new HDTV. They will ship the 51H83 and pick up the old one for $400. You will get a new warranty as well.

I am the one that got it for free - I then posted and now they charge :) a couple of other people told me they did the same and it was all from free to pay for delivery etc.

I think they are close to having a DVI upgrade and that could be why as well

I was hoping you would reply.

How do you think the two models compare? Are you happier with the the 51H83?

Mine should be here next week. The only reason I did the upgrade is I got my 50H82 for such a low price the $400 upgrade was not that big of a deal. Plus I picked up a new warranty and the design looks a little sleaker on the 51H83.

I prefer the design and I think it is not as deep (guess) which allows me to put it further into the corner making it further away which to me is better. The one thing I don't like is the lag when using DVI and switching between HD channels and from HD to SD and I am getting the opinion that running all channels through the component gives me the best picture. My STB converts channels properly (4X3 stretched and 16X9 unstretched) so only using the component right now. I did use the DVI for a while but the lag bothered me and will not use it until either needed or have a DVI player. I am glad I did the trade though.
