Recently the speakers in my set stopped stopped playing sounds for OTA broadcasts. I can raise & lower the graphical volume bar but still hear no sound. If I turn the volume all the way to the right I hear hissing. The mute is not on & the speakers are enabled through the TV's menu. Ideas?
Make sure you haven't pressed the SAP button, some stations don't have an SAP (second audio programme).

I forgot to mention I made sure SAP was not on also. Since the initial post, I ran an RCA stereo cable from the TV outputs to my receiver. I still didn't get any sound (other than intermittant hissing & popping at higher volumes. That tells me that something is prolly wrong with the TV's audio processor.
When you run an audio input from something (DVD, CD, STB, VCR) to the analogue inputs on the TV, do you get sound?
There's also a menu item on some TVs to turn on/off the internal/external speakers?
