Considering buying this TV. Before I was thinking about a Sony 34" direct-view (widescreen), but this TV is still reasonably sized and seems to be a much better deal. Anyone have this TV, and had good/bad experiences with it? Also, is it true that it can display 720p?
It will accept 720P, but like all other CRT-based RPTVs, it cannot display 720P natively. This TV will display the incoming 720P signal in 1080i.
This TV may also not have DVI. This is a show-stopper for some people. I believe the larger sized HDX series had DVI, but this, the smallest one, did not. I could be mistaken.
Now I remember (perhaps) This may have been the one that was "DVI Upgradeable."

well I do have this TV and i will confirm that it indeed has DVI... It's an excellent TV for the $$.
Weird. I went to 3 websites and none mentioned DVI. That's why I was a little confused, after all the "D" in HDX stood for DVI... Thanks for the clarification. Perhaps it was the small Hitachi that didn't have DVI.
This site mentions DVI.

Cloudnine,
How does DVI look on your set? Is it as good as advertised?

I think that the DVI looks better than the composite cables i tried before i had purchased the DVI cable. I'm currently on Comcast cable with the Sony HDTV cable box. It's a great TV with tons of features. I wish it had a couple more component inputs, but other than that i was sold on it! I paid $1485.00 around 6months ago, a friend of mine seen mine a week ago and had to buy one and he picked one up for $1100.00 at the same place i had bought mine.
composite outputs Assume you mean "component video", and "inputs".

I'm using a Sony DVP-NC655P progressive scan DVD player...It doesn't have DVI, so i use the component cables.

i'm really beginning to wonder if spending extra money to watch dvd's through a dvi connection ($300 for the samsung player, $100 for the cable) is worth it if i'm buying a non-fixed pixel tv. sounds good but not good enough.
