About the same time the rest of you were out buying the 38 widescreen, I opted for the 36" RCA model. Of course it wasnt as cool that it wasnt widescreen or have a built in tuner, but almost 2 years have past and my TV is working awesome. Never ever ever had a problem.
I see these 38" guys (and girls) that have all these problems. Was that model made that crappy?
Im just happy my TV is all good. And screw anyone that says RCA sucks becaus eits done me well :D

H-m-m-m... cool?
No! But for viewing DVD's and positioning for HD (with a built in tuner), IMO widescreen is the only way to go.
RCA 'sucks' only because they ignored the fact that they used underrated capacitors and did not admit nor retrofit the existing base of products. Additionally, when the problems did surface, RCA played dumb and did not properly communicate the easy fix to their service centers. This left a VERY sour taste to the consumers.
Fortunately... after almost two years of suffering and frustration (and talk in the forums), this problem is now very well known and IMO a nit.
Your set (since it does not have a built-in receiver) should not see this problem since it is attributed to a the power supply board for the DM-1 module (receiver).
Fortunately, you have not had to deal with RCA yet. Let me tell ya... when you call them for help/assistance/repair... you may as well talk to a 'crack head'.

I have to disagree with you. My F38310 that is 2 years old had a DM-1 Module problem. It was not related to the power supply. The tone that switches LNB's on multiple LNB dish's went out and unit was locked on 101 sat. They came out and replaced it at no charge even though the set was way out of warranty. No hassle at all. Can't ask for any more than that. Try and get Sony and Mits to do that.

hjriver,
You are one of the VERY fortunate ones. The first week of owning my set. I spent endless hours and the phone with RCA just to get geometry problems resolved! I sent faxes, called repair shops and so on. No one would help from RCA. Even the "authorized" service tech came to my home and didn't know what to do.
Fortunately, by reading the forums, I was able to tweak the set myself in a matter of 15 minutes! That got me even more frustrated with RCA!
Anyway... there are tons of posts on other forums about RCA's CSR's and support. Your's was the first that I've read that was positive. You are the lucky one I guess!
