Hi. Wondering if any can give me some info on what could be wrong with my Toshiba 51HX83. Sometimes when I turn it on works great. Other times all there is a few lines at the top of screen with a distorted pic. After a few minutes pic will come back. Or if I hit the side of the TV it comes in.

The clear one is when I hit the side of TV

It sounds like there is a bad cold solder joint somewhere...

Personally if it were my set I would at least have it looked at or check it myself before buying a new set...It would probably be worth your while to do so...These are awesome sets...

Well now when TV is turned on just get blue and orange lines, hitting the side don't work.
So do you think it still might be solder problem or Convergence problem. any pointers on where to start to look

Here's the convergence thread, but the pics in post 1 don't look like convergence. If I knew what it was, I'd have posted.

Hi, Well had my TV checked out by a tech. He said my problem was the hd converter box and they don't make them any more. But he could try to repair it as he had some success with others. it's the silver box next to the DVI/HDCP box. if I move it picture comes in good. So right now I have it wired up with a little pressure on it and running good. will let it run for a few hours to see.
must be a bad solder joint. how does one go about getting that board out to check the solder joints.
