Toshiba worked before it was given to me. No surround sound was used then or now but I know the sound worked before transport. Any suggestions as to repair? All other functions are good.

Here's a checklist. If you can't find a solution there, perhaps you could consider purchasing an inexpensive HTiB for your sound if you're inputting signals to the TV from other devices, or even from the TV audio outputs if available. Make sure you haven't gone into the user setup and disabled the speakers in some way - this is done to enable external speakers for example.
