I have Panasonic DVD player connected to the Samsung TXN3075 WHF TV using the component video connection. I was playing the 007 Die another day tonight (wide screen) and found out that I cannot use the TV picture size button on the remote to change the screen size.

I still see two black bars on top and below the picture. Did the DVD player connection disable the picture size control? Or the movie is not exactly 16:9 so it didn't fill the whole screen?

Can anyone help?

Thanks

on the samsung HDTV'S, you can only use the zoom on the non hd inputs (coaxial, composite, and S-video). why, i have no idea, but it's just the way it is set up. does your DVD player have a zoom function you can use instead?

Your TV screen is 16:9 or roughly the same as a 1.85:1 aspect ratio movie.

Die Another Day is a 2.35:1 movie (as are almost half of DVDs) There will therefore be "black bars" above and below the image since the image cannot completely fill your screen.

If you "zoom" the image, you'll miss the information on the "sides" of the movie - better to watch the movie as the director intended.

See the FAQ on "Black Bars."
