I have always thought the elite has the best picture of any of the CRT rear projection sets; I would appreciate any input from owners of the elite PRO HD series as to their experience with their sets..thanks!
I have a Pioneer 610 PRO HD (2.5 yrs old). I agree that this line has the best picture for a mid-level RPTV. I use one component input, courtesy of video switching via my A/V receiver. I run digitral SD and HD feed via a Sony DirecTV HD 100 tuner, and 480p from a Pioneer DV-37 DVD player. As far as tweaking, I recommend the Avia DVD "basic video calibrations". This will basically optimize your "user settings". I start with [MENU] PICTURE] and change to the "Movie" base. Then follow the instructions. After this, I had to lower the "Color" setting considerably to recuce the red push issue. This process is not an ISF calibration, but is inexpensive and effective. Do NOT open the front panels an play with the CRT gun knobs! Good luck and happy viewing!!!

Thanks for the input. If the elite is a "midlevel" RP, I'd hate to see a "high level" RP. Other than the diamond mitsu, which is comparable in price, the elite is the most expensive set I've come across, at least in the rp range. But, I feel the picture is superior, and I appreciate the feedback! Thanks, mb
Since you are looking at spending that kind of money, have you considered the alternate RPTVs using LCD or DLP technology?
Sony's Grand Wega for example. I think most DLPs are Samsung.
These have some disadvantages, but they also have several advantages. Just trying to "brainstorm" for you.
If you've got $9k, look at the Toshiba LCoS.

I've looked at so many tv's my brain is sore. I have tv/hifi buff mags scattered all over my study, and have gone to all the forums for more info. I am settling back to the elite because I have always liked the picture and the looks of the cabinet. I like the Zenith LCD model, as well as the Sony XBR LCD model. I have not yet seen the samsung DLP, which has gotten good feedback on this forum. There is a very reliable Zenith dealer in Lubbock, which is near my hometown, and I would get a Zenith 52" LCD, or the RP in the 61", were it not for the lack of HVI connection and only one component HDTV input. The callibration factor is big with me, as I live 85 miles from anywhere and it would cost me 300-400 bucks to get that done. So I want to buy from a reputable dealer. I understand the DLP requires considerable tweaking, whereas the Pioneer is pretty good right out of the box. I notice Hitachi's SWX20B has gotten great reviews from Sound&Vision, but unless I want to pay Texas sales tax plus $2800 bucks at Circuit City, thats an internet buy, and the extra cost for tweaking. The further I go, the confusder I get! thanks for the post. mb

I have a PRO-530HD and I had a storm lastnight and it knocked my tv out, When i went to cut it on the red standby light keeps flashing and the power will not come on....can anybody please help.
Thanks
Unplug the TV for a while to see if it resets. If not, time to call for service.
