I have a Toshiba 50HDX82 (Apr 2003), Saturday morning all I have is a greenish screen on HD1 (DVD input), HD2 (Starchoice Component input) and DVI (Starchoice DVI input) I've checked all the cables. When I remove the red and blue component cables nothing changes in the picture but when I remove the green component cable I lose the picture all together. The same thing happens with the DVD component cable. I think my red and blue "guns" aren't firing. I don’t think it’s a cable issue, being the picture is the same for HD1 (DVD input), HD2 (Starchoice Component input) and DVI (Starchoice DVI input). When red or blue cables are plugged in separately or together I get no picture. The only picture is with the green component cable plugged in.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
Here's a list of things to check. Try unplugging the TV overnight:

You may be right about the CRTs. Did you open the TV and look?

Thanks 57U for your time in replying, been away on business since the original post. Will try an overnight unplug tonight. Also will check / move around cables, but still don't think its a cable issue being every input is greenish colour. Two things I noticed today is 1) the pull-down main menu...I can see red, green, and blue colours in the menu icons 2) when I press "Touch-Focus" I see red, green, and blue horizontal and vertical "scanning" lines. I'm starting to think its not the CRT "guns". Called around to a few TV repair shops....they said....hyperboard, video processor chip, input switcher chip. One guy said parts are no longer available for 50HDX82. The service guy that said "hyperboard" said he'd come take the PCB and replace the bad components and re-install. If I can find out "the bad components" I can do this myself. What should I look for if I take the front or rear covers off ??? Do you know anyone with the service manual ???
Please look at the following images....as you can see one picture shows the pull-down main menu with the 3 colours, and the convergence screen looks normal.

Sounds like an issue inside the TV that will require the help of a qualified technician. Sorry, I cannot help you further.

Thanks to everyone that replied (57U)......
Called an Authorized Toshiba Service Shop in my city, they took the "bottom guts" of my 50" WS to the shop (for a week). The component failure was a TA1360AN Video Processor Chip ($70.00). The chip is on the PCB the "Hyperboard" is inserted into and just forward of the "Hyperboard". I picked up the "bottom guts" and re-assembled everything (Service Tech screwed his back). The picture is "hazy" and "gray" now....Touch Focus gives an error now.....but the Service Tech says when he comes to do the 56pt convergence next week all should be good.
Just giving you guys more info to repair yourself....cause the people with 16,000 posts had never seen my problem before.

I could use some more advice from the experts here please......
The service tech finally came yesterday morning to set-up the picture, after he left I went to a few of my regular channels and they are very "dark", even the DVD I watched the night before is way darker than before the service tech ever did anything. The picture gets better if I raise the brightness to 75-80....but for 5.5 years I've had the TV brightness always set to the default 50. The service tech turned down some stuff in "service menu" when he started the convergence but said over the phone that he put every setting back. There's NO way your "brightness" goes from a 50 setting to an 80 setting after a component repair and convergence set-up.
Do you know what service menu settings made the picture way too dark ???
I'm going searching for some "grayscale" set-up info.....I bought the Avia Guide to Home Theatre DVD.
BRTC - Bright Center.... (got this from another thread)....is that the correct "service menu code", and if turned down too far would affect the overall brightness.
Any help is appreciated.....Thanks
