My Toshiba 37AV500U Lags to much

I just bought a Toshiba 37AV500U this morning and from the second I started playing Halo 3 online ive noticed a one second lag between when I touch a button and when the action is performed on the screen. I know it's the tv/xbox 360 and not the online connection.

Is there any way to fix this? And if there isn't, can anyone recommend another Toshiba LCD to replace it with (around the $800 range)?
