I've had my HDTV for about a year now and I'm trying to get the best possible picture from it. I'm using Time Warner Cable with a Scientific Atlanta set-top box 4250HDC. So, here's what I'm wondering:
a.) Does it make sense to have the t.v. professionally calibrated to get the best picture, or can I do it myself using Avia or Digital Video Essentials DVDs?
b.) If anyone has used either of these DVDs with this TV, were they worth the money and what settings are you using on your t.v.?
c.) Are there any recommended settings for the set-top box, because some HDTV channels have overscan problems.
So far, I've calibrated the settings using THX Optimizer for the DVD connection with an HDMI cable. The set-top box is connected using component cables, and I've pretty much tried to eyeball the settings as best I can, but feel there's got to be a better way.
If anyone has any suggestions, hints or tips, please post them to this thread. Thanks so much.
