Just want to say this is a great site.I just purchased a panasonic ct-36hx42 36" hdtv moniter and love the picture with progressive scan, one slight problem, even after tuning with S&V video tune up
disc i am getting a very light blue coloring on the right lower corner it is only noticable on very light or white backgrounds such as when I watch a hockey game and they pan over the ice. Also when I used the S&V disc and tried to set contrast the level never goes high enough to cause the blooming effect they want to help set it up,is this normal for Panasonics to limit the amount of adjustment? Other than that the set looks great.
Thanks for your input

You need to do convergence settings. You might have the 9 point user convergence setting in the picture menu. It should look much better after that.

Is there convergence on tube TVs? I was under the impression that the purpose of convergence was to align the "guns" on a RPTV.

I know this might sound silly but I had a similar problem with my direct view tv. Try unplugging it from the electrical outlet and leaving it off for a few minutes. Then plug it in again. See if this resolves the problem.
This sound like a color purity issue. Do you have speakers close to the TV or anything with a magnetic field close to that corner? I don't believe this is convergence. Convergence affects direct views and RPTV's, units with multiple color guns or multiple tubes like RPTV's. We used to 'degauss' TV picture tubes to clear up purity problems (dating myself). I think new direct views do this automatically on power-up.
Check for magnetic fields (speakers, electric motor, magnet etc.) Don't laugh about the electric motor, I had a call about a computer monitor that the color was all screwed up on. The guy had an electric motor sitting right next to his computer :)

Thanks for all that responded. To answer a few questions,I have a set of Polk Bookshelf speakers near the set but the tv is in a cherry corner cabnit and the speakers are shielded and about 2 feet away from the screen,I did try moving them furthar but no change, other than that I do have a vcr above the tv as well as a Direct tv reciever.no motors or any thing else electrical near the set,i will try unplugging and replugging and try that.I also reset the set with instructions from Panasonic support but still no change.is this a service call type thing or would a calabration by a ISF tech help.
Thanx
Dan
The set should be under warranty, this is a service call thing. I don't know if ISF's do color purity adjustments. It involves moving 'rings' that were placed around neck of the tube. ( or it used to ).
Again, my knowledge is dated, so get other opinions.
edit: Has the TV had this problem from the beginning?
Good Luck,

Yes it has probely had it since I got it,the set is 3 weeks old but I was so dazzled by the picture at first I did not notice it untill I had it about 1 1/2 weeks, yes it is under warrenty and I did call about having it looked at,they will come to my house but I need to be here M-F appointments only and I need to find a day to be here.
Again it is not a big thing but I have a tendency to be anal about little things like this.
Dan
I don't think you are any more anal about your HDTV than the rest of us. Except maybe BADCAMPER who doen't have one yet :D. He's a starving college student.
Please let us know what the tech does to correct the problem.
Thanks,
Lee

Well after they took it to the shop after trying to deguas and adjust picture, said it is a color purity problem and would need to have at shop, held it hostage for 2 weeks and said "I don't know it works great here" well they said all was well with the set and could not duplicate my problem and brought it back. While I was rehhoking it {still had blue tint} and testing connections I noticed that when it was halfway out of the cabinit the dicoloration was gone, put it in the cabinit and it was there, take it out and gone, now thinking {I am not licensed to think by the way} that it was something in the cabnit I gutted the thing and still had a problem. While reattaching the doors with my electric drill I noticed that when the drill was near the set the color was good,AHHH lets dig deep into the owners manual and lo and behold there is a adjustment for geomagnetic distortion, turned it down and pic is good for some reason the way it sits in cabinit and postion effects picture .Now I can understand a little why I never thought of that but the Tv fix um up guys, Factory Auth to boot should have known about this and fixed it when they first came to my house and tried before taking it away.Oh well it works now and I am happy.
