what is the problem with lg uk after spending a total of about 7 hrs speaking to the service helpline and head office and just about anybody who works there i am told that a simple task like reseting the lamp clock is a secret that they can not tell me my set is 14 months old and i have had to pay LG £200.00 for a new lamp that i replaced myself only to be told I would have to pay LG another £180.00 so they can send a man out to reset the clock this is done with the remote on a hidden menu without instructions I can damage the set but they will not give me the help. Any one else have this problem with this company or is it just me cause i feel like i have been mugged and I will never buy anything with the LG logo again customer service or uostomer rip off you decide and if you also have the info i am looking for please pass it on

I got the 44sz8r and it needed a new lamp after 14 months of heavy use you can change the lamp yourself but lg will not tell you how to reset the lamp clock so you might want to think again or find a set that has instructions because 14 months is not a long life for a tv and having to pay out a lot of money for a tv repair man to reset it for you is a real rip off best of luck in your search

LG lamp counter reset

Make sure the TV is on:

1) Press and hold the MENU button on your TV SET

2) At the same time, press and hold the MENU button on your REMOTE CONTROL

3) Continue holding BOTH buttons down for 5 secconds or until the Service Menu pops up

4) Release the MENU button on your REMOTE CONTROL, then release the MENU button on the TV Set.

5) Press and hold ENTER (or OK button) on the TV Set, then:

6) At the same time, press and hold MUTE on the REMOTE CONTROL

7) Holding BOTH buttons down should lead to the Lamp Life Hours screen to pop up.

8) Release the MUTE button on the REMOTE CONTROL, then release the ENTER (or OK button) on the TV Set.

9) Now press SELECT, then press SELECT again to confirm the reset of the counter

** If the procedure above does not work swap steps 5 & 6.

** For a few special models (including 44SZ8D), you might have to change step 5 to:

5a) Press ENTER on the TV Set to enter the Position Adjustment Screen

5b) Press and HOLD ENTER on the TV Set. The TV should go back to the main Service Menu, CONTINUE HOLDING ENTER and now ALSO HOLD the MUTE button on your REMOTE CONTROL. After about 5 seconds, your Lamp Life Counter should pop up.
