View Full Version : Vizio Plasma HDMI Connector Problem

I own a Vizio 50" plasma television. It has two HDMI connectors on it. I have a Time Warner Cable box that also has an HDMI connection. I noticed awhile back (actually when I still had DishNetwork rather than cable) that the picture started 'blinking' for the HDMI slot I had connected, then eventually the signal was no longer being transferred. I bought a new HDMI cable, but no success. I hooked the new cable up to the second HDMI input on the Vizio, and it worked fine, but now that connection is starting to occasionally 'blink'. I tried going back to the first connector, but still nothing. Do these connectors go bad? Is there anything I can do? The unit is just under a year old, so it's still in warranty. I'm calling Vizio tomorrow. I'd use component cables, but I think I really can tell a difference in the picture quality between the HDMI and the component cables.

If anyone has experienced similar HDMI connector issues and can offer any assistance, I'd sure appreciate it.

Try unplugging and replugging the cable a few times at both ends. The HDMI connector is a poor design and often makes a poor mechanical/electrical connection, or there is oxidation on the connector/cable. This is very common.

If you see a major difference between component video and HDMI, it's because the inputs of your TV are not properly calibrated, or perhaps the STB is not properly set up.
