I have a 42" Viewsonic VPW450HD. Last night I turned on the TV and was receiving sound but no image. Thinking something was messed up with my satellite receiver I turned the receiver on and off. My sound then went away and I noticed the TV is no longer accepting any input. It will not accept any commands from the remote control or from the buttons on the TV itself (power, menu, input source, volume, etc..). I can't bring up the menu or any built-in fuctions of the TV.

Basically, I have a TV that turns on and does absolutely nothing else. I can't even turn the TV off unless I hit the Main Power button on the back of the set.

Does anyone know what might cause this? Is a fuse burned inside the TV? Something more maybe? :mecry:

See the HDTV FAQ "things to check first". Try unplugging the TV for a few minutes to see if it'll reset.

I'm having the exact same issue.. exact same model. Powers up by main, amber light turns green with soft power, then no response - can't even turn it off unless you press the main.

Tried removing input panel on the rear and that allowed the TV to power up and not "lock UP" but still no video

I have the same TV and had the same problem in January. I took it to a local repair shop and they replaced the power supply (it was supplying VERY "dirty" power), and replaced 2 capacitors that failed on the video input board. The input board is in the box on the back and can be removed easily with a screwdriver. The total repair was under $220, 50/50 parts and labor, and now it is working great.

Side note: Before it quit altogether, I was getting the same problem intermittently about a year ago. I noticed the box holding the input board was VERY hot. Placing a fan behind the set and blowing constantly on the board box fixed it until it died for good.
