i'm getting ready to purchase this hdtv. most of my viewing will be video games and dvd's, there are a few tv shows that i will watch. for the most part this decision is influenced by my budget. i don't think i'm going to get the stb right now so hdtv programing is not a factor. i just want to know your opinions on this tv. i've reserched the tv quite a bit and it seems to have what i'm looking for. i play ps2 and xbox, i'm going to get a progressive scan dvd player, will this buy be benificial to me? will this hdtv enhance my viewing of these devices?

I recently purchased this tv, its not a bad tv very slick looking design to the tv itself. At first I hated the quality of games like say time spilters 2 on it, it just looked to dark and grainy then what I was compared to on my wega. After tweaking the brightness and contrast you can kind of fix up the darkness. Yet the grainy quality and jagged edges in the game really wont come out. I have noticed this on most of my friends HDTVs also when playing game consoles so I am guessing its just that its getting stretched to such a huge size. Yet after playing games on it for about 2 weeks I dont even notice it anymore, that and the built in line doubler does help up the crispness of the games just a tad bit.

The XBOX can look steller on it, some of the games (more on the way) are 1080i with 5.1 sound.....The PS2 won't look nearly as good. If you use the XBOX, make sure you get one of the Component Kits so you can connect to the Component inputs of the TV or a switch.

I tried to hook up my Xbox to this TV on AV4 and CVI video inputs.
On AV4 the beswt I could get was a squigly version of the screen rolling vertically over and over again. I set up the XBOX to say that my tv can handle 480p and 1080i and not 720p. Nothing changed on AV4. I swithed to CVI on AV1 and the XBOX menu works and the XBOX logo works when it is loading a game, but as soon as it started the game (xbox mag demo disk 22) it did the same thing with the squigly screen and rolling vertically. I have the XBOX HDTV Convertor pack. Please help. cspinelive@blacklight9.com
One other thing. I changed the xbox to say my tv could only handle 1080i and not the other two and it worked on the CVI of AV1. I usually have my Dish hooked up there, so I switched the xbox to AV4 and it messed up again.
