Sharp LCD picture quality problems

I have had a Sharp 37" LCD for the last 2.5-3 years now and have been really happy with it. However, now the colors are starting to fade and the magenta/reds are starting to bleed and streak.

2 questions that i hope someone can help me with:
1) is this just my picture bulb getting old?
2) i heard that you can replace the "bulb" in an lcd - is this true?

LCD-based RPTVs have a bulb. Flat panel LCDs have a couple if I recall, but I'm not sure they're user-replaceable, or whether that's your problem at all.
