hello all. i have a few questions about this tv i just purchased. it is an insignia 27" lcd.

1) i have the spdif audio output going into my reciever. when i watch tv(cable) i hear it thru the reciever, but when i switch to another imput, ie-xbox, i do not get sound thru the spdif, just the tv speakers... if the spdif is just an output, why wont this work?

2) when i bought the tv, the remote did not work the tv. i had to do a code search that was in the directions. i found a code that will turn the tv off and on, but not all the buttons on the remote work. i am wondering if it isn't the exact code. does anyone know what the "factory" code for the factory remote is?

i would appreciate any help!!

The A/V receiver has inputs. The TV is an output. This output only works with a signal from the tuner in the TV.

For Xbox (or any other device), they must have a dedicated S/PDIF connection to the A/V receiver as the TV will not 'pass-through' digital audio.

1. HDTVs do not "passthrough" the DD5.1 signals. You need to connect each device directly to the AV Receiver if the TV doesn't pass the signal.

2. It's very odd that the remote doesn't function properly for the TV. Make sure you haven't pressed one of the other buttons on the remote - like DVD - people do this quite freqently and wonder why their remote doesn't control the intended device.

Press the "TV" button and it should properly control your TV. If that doesn't work, then these remotes usually have a "factory reset" code. Check the operating manual for the remote

ok. i understand the s/pdif thing, but the remote baffles me. just to make sure i'm not being an idiot, the buttons at the bottom of the remote (the audio, zoom, etc) are for the tv functions, correct?

Some remotes are capable of controlling more devices than just the TV. There may be buttons at the top that say "TV", "DVD", "VCR" or "Cable" (as an example).

Just be sure that you push the "TV" button prior to executing any funtions. If that doesn't help... can you contact Insignia support? They usually have a phone number or email address in the manual.

Some remotes that can control several devices even have a light that comes on "behind" the device name when you press buttons. The "light" should be indicating TV, if there is such a thing on your remote. Many remotes do not have this feature but some do.

For example, if you've pressed the "DVD" button by mistake, that light would come on instead of TV. This can also happen if the remote has been improperly programmed.

Hello everyone. My name is Rico. I just bought the NS-27 LCD for my bedroom.

Can anyone tell me what the optimal settings are for the best picture and audio is? Right from the box the picture is a bit fuzzy.

I would greatly appriciate it.

Thanks
