Anyone ever hear of this? I'm not sure if it's a cable problem (Comcast) or is it my new TV? I bought a HP LC3260N 32" LCD TV last night, set it up in time for SportsCenter. About 3 seconds after I turn on ESPN, (and it only happens on ESPN, all other chanels are fine) a black box about 4" x 6" comes up on the lower left side of my screen. It just stays there, displaying nothing but blackness... it wont go away until I change the channel. Not sure if this is a QAM problem with the TV or what... Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
I assume you haven't somehow turned on Closed Captioning, either on the TV, or on the STB? You would likely get CC on other channels, but it's all I could think of.
Check out the HDTV FAQ on "Motorola STBs".

I agree with the CC "angle". Make sure that CC is set to "OFF" on both the TV and cable box. There's usually a few CC options (types) that can be enabled and perhaps one of those is enabled that only gets "triggered" by ESPN and not other channels.

I have the same black box problem with my TV. I do not cable, satellite or anything other than air. CC is off on both the VCR and TV. In addition, there is a web address that scrolls through the black box. http://default web site. It does not show up in any consistent manner, but it does seem to prefer some channels over others. This may be a silly question, but could the TV be detecting my wireless network ?
Thanks for any help! :headb:

Highly unlikely.
