Has anyone know anything about this TV? Got it from Sam,s Club Monday and although it has a great picture, I am having problems getting it to cut on. It take several times hitting the power button.

Are you sure you're waiting long enough after you press the on or power button. A lot of these TVs take a few seconds to turn on and impatient people think nothing is happening, when the TV is actually trying to come on.

Yes. I hit the power button and the light blinks 31 times the it goes off and blinks another 15 times then it cuts off totally. In a few seconds it comes on again and does the 30 and 15 blinks again. Cuts off again. I hit the power button and then it comes on. Does this everytime it has been sitting off for a few hours. If this is normal, then it sure stinks.

That doesn't sound normal. Try unplugging the TV overnight to see if that resets it. If not, you can return or call for service.

Have a service call scheduled for Thursday. They say it is a bad module. Sure hope they get it fixed. I love the picture on this TV.

I have an IDB5220N by HP also. THe power light will blink on and then off, but the TV never comes on. Have checked the lamp and it is not burned out. There is also a "tick" sound from the bottom right hand side of the TV when you plug it into the power or sometimes when you push the power button. Anyone know what this could be? HP support said maybe a brick is out??? I'm not tech savy and don't even know what that is? Is it something to do with a surge protector? One last question -- should this DLP TV be plugged into a surge protector? Mine was, but I have read contrasting info on this. Any advice greatly appreciated!

I have an IDB5220N by HP also. It is doing the exact same thing. The power light will blink on and then off, but the TV never comes on. Have checked the lamp and it is not burned out. There is also a "tick" sound from the bottom right hand side of the TV when you plug it into the power or sometimes when you push the power button. Did you purchase from SAMs Club?

Yes, I purchased it from Sam's Club in Jan. 2007. Have hardly used it at all! It is not our main TV source. Have you contacted Sam's club on this issue? Mine is out of warranty by HP for about 80 days now, but by the hours, I definitely think someone should at least step up and provide some tech support in at least getting it repaired. I have spoken to HP, but not Sam's Club (they are suppose to have 100% satisfaction right?)
Anyhow, if you come across a way to repair this problem, or get any kind of solution, please post some info or pm it to me. Thanks, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I hardly ever spend much money on these kinds of things and this is definitely frustrating and exactly why I don't!

I purchased mine from Sam's in Mar. 2007. The manufactures warranty just expired, but fortunately I purchased the 3 year extended warranty from sams. A repair company will be coming April 9th. So I will let you know what they come up with. You know, it's almost like you have to be extremely careful when they offer a tv for such a great deal. I would still contact Sam's because they need to bear some of the responsibility for a product that last less or up to a year. They don't even carry that tv anymore, which means they would have to replace it with a tv based on how much you paid for the 52 inch. That means you would not get a 52in for what you paid for this tv. I will keep you posted.

I contacted Sams Club and they were awesome. Via the phone I told them my problem and that I did not even have a recipet. I only had my credit card to prove I had bought it from them. They said to bring it in, and it would be no problem replacing it or refunding my money. I was extremely shocked, but grateful. I loaded up the TV that day and drove to the store, where they did exchange it. I did have to get a little smaller TV for the price, but it was worth it. It did take them about an hour to locate the UPC number they needed, but HEY, I'm not complaining b/c I felt extremely lucky to have them do this for me with no reciept and no warranty over one year after it was purchased! I have a great respect for them and will definitely buy any future large purchases from them if possible.

I have the same TV and I am having the same problems. I also got this from Sams Club just over a year ago after the warrenty was out. The bulb went out and it burnt the cord that connects to the bulb. I contacted a repair service and they said that HP no longer sells the parts or makes tvs.

MCOLE96- what phone number did you call for Sams Club? Did you call your local store?

I am glad to hear that things worked out for you. I did find out what the problem is with my television, it is the picture bulb and it is going to cost about $200 to get it fixed. Even though I have the extended warranty I just found out that this is not covered in Sam's warranty. What type of television did you get and what size is it. It might be worth me just getting another television to replace this encase of future problems. Please let me know.

Ekluek - Are you sure that it can not be repaired? I have a repairman that Sam's sent out to take care of the situation and they have ordered an replacement bulb. What state are you in? I can find out some info and let you know.

I am in New Mexico. After my service repair informed me that HP does not make the parts anymore I contacted HP directly. First I looked on their site and the bulb was listed as out of stock so I called HP. They also stated the same thing that they no longer make the bulb. The only way to get a bulb is if a repair service already had some in stock before they stopped making it. Thats why I am hoping I will have better luck with Sams Club. I just don't know who to contact at Sams Club.

What did you find out with SAMS with your tv. I'm having the same problem with HP saying they don't have the part to fix it. Have you talked to Sams yet? :usa1:

eKluek have you checked with Sams yet ? I'm having the same problem with my tv. I got it at Sams. HP said parts to fix it can't be purchased anymore. I was wondering how you made out.

Ekluek have you check with SAMS yet? I bought a tv from them also. I can't get parts to fix it according to HP. Have you checked to see what your option is with SAMS?

just take it back to Sam's. They will take care of you. If you have your receipt it will be quicker. If you don't it might take longer.

I, too, bought a HP ID5220N High-Definition DLP TV from Sam's Club in January, 2007. In October, 2007 the lamp module blew out after only 9 months of average use. I called HP and discovered that they don't warranty the bulb. After some more prodding by myself with the support person about this not being acceptable I was told that there had been a recall on some of these tv's due to a bad software problem. HP sent me a replacement bulb for free, as well as a memory card with a firmware update that was supposed to take care of a problem relating to too much power being sent to the bulb or something. I updated that software and a month later the replacement lamp also blew out. I called back and was told that the bulb could have been faulty or the 'Brick" could have a problem. HP offered to replace the brick (which is basically the entire guts of the tv) as well as send me a 3rd lamp. The brick arrived with the new bulb and they had a tech come and install the brick. That took care of the problem and it did not cost me anything. So if you have had a bulb blow and have not had the firmware upgrade I would call and inquire about it.
My tv still does have the power button problem occasionally, and it seems to be happening more frequently. The blue power button flashes rapidly and it won't turn on. I have to press and hold the power button for about 5 seconds until it flashes very fast and goes off. This resets the tv and it can be powered back on in about 2 minutes. I don't know why this is, but since I can reset it I have not really stressed over it, it is an annoyance. Overall I probably would NOT ever buy another HP tv again due to all of the issues.

I am on my 6th replacement from HP and it too is now broke. The bulbs blow prematurely due to the defective bricks they used in these things. I bought mine from Sam's in 2006 and am so sorry that I chose this over the others that we liked. For those of you with the flashing power button, pay close attention to those because they are the error codes. That was the problem we ran into with our first set. Second had issues with crackling speakers. 3rd, 4th and 5th had exploding bulbs and other speaker issues. I'm in the middle of fighting with HP over this now. They offered to buy it back last week but now are telling me that the representative mis spoke when she told me that.

Take it back to Sam's. If you have your receipt, they will give you what you paid for it back. If not they will give you the lowest price it sold for. I know it's been three years, but their guarantee does not have a time limit.
