Quick and early review: Outstanding tv with very good feature set, connectivity, SD picture quality, and dvd PQ. Better than adequate sound. 2 yr warranty a plus. Hooking into HD within 1 week at which point I'll update. Absolutely satisfied with our anxiety-inducing decision, more so now that I've seen a few other sets in person, in living rooms, that we were also considering, ie Panasonic, Hitachi, Toshiba.

One niggling thing that likely amounts to nothing but eager to hear others experience and fix. At odd/random times, with tv off, we hear that recognizable click we would hear when set comes on or off. The set remains off and thats the end of that. Strange yes and maybe nothing to warrant a greasy service guy sitting in my living room tearing the set apart for but would like to hear if anyone else has experienced this. Unless the set cracks apart overnight for no reason this by no way sways our review above.

Yes, my set seems to click while it is off, too, but it really hasn't bothered me. It sounds a bit like a relay or reed switch opening and closing once in a while. I really don't have an answer to the issue, but I have been assured by the local LG service center that it's harmless. By and large, I have been pretty pleased with the set, but I do want to have the set professionally calibrated, since I think that the color temp is off, and that will go a long way to fixing very minor color issues. The adjustable color temp control on the 42PC1DA is very nice, but without a way to know what's D6500, it's not really much use.

Heard about this - but not a lot. I have the same set, and have yet to hear it.
Do you have your sets well vented? There is supposed to be at least 4" clearance all the way around. I have mine recessed in a bookcase, and I was careful to give it a bit of room, as I knew the 42" was passively cooled.

I am sure it is nothing to be concerned with though.

Since I have dumped my Cable box and gone with a cablecard, I have become more aware of the clicking. One very nice feature of this TV set is it's TV Guide mode: it very successfully replaced the TV Guide mode on the Motorola DCT 6416 that i had previously. I am more convinced than ever that the clicking that I hear has to do with TV guide downloading and updating it's data. BTW, my HDTV picture improved considerably after I dumped the outboard cable box and now use the ATSC/QAM tuner built into the set.
