Hi everyone, I am new to the thread and to HDTV. I just got my new 42LC2D set from LG. I did the EZ-scan to find all channels and set up all channels and i noticed that under input there is TV>CATV>CADTV. TV is from the antenna which i dotn have set up b/c i dont beleive i can acquire any signals from Toronto area. CATV is cable tv, and i have my Rogers cable hooked up to that like normal and get all the normal channels i had. While scanning, CADTV came up and found 200 extra channels (half were blacked out). I am assuming that it stands for Cable Digital TV, but where am i getting all these channels from and why (not that i am complaining, just wondering how i got some american programming).

BTW, i did search the FAQs but didnt find anything under CADTV.

THX

An internal QAM receiver (CADTV) is capable of tuning unencrypted digital cable channels.

If you have a good antenna/location, you can get a fair number of OTA HD channels in the GTA (I believe CBC, City, Toronto1, CTV) and Buffalo (ABC, NBC, PBS, CBS UPN), perhaps some more, but I'm not into OTA.

If interested in pursuing OTA, see the HDTV FAQs on OTA.
