I'm a newbie to this whole world. Got the TV, hooked it up myself to
TimeWarner Scientific Atlanta 8300.
Would like to learn more. Anyone have any experience to share?
p.s. bought it online from Costco

How do you like that model? It gets some pretty good reviews on the AVS forums.

We have a Sceptre X37SV Naga that performs quite well. The picture is excellent. The past minor problem was that the RCA remote for our DirecTV receiver would not control any feature of the TV other than On/Off. Now, we just purchased and installed a DirecTV H20-600 HD receiver and the IR remote that came with it (RC32) will not program to control any function, not even On/Off.

The DirecTV Tech Support was not able to help although we/they tried for over an hour. We have an e-mail into Sceptre to see if they have any suggestion.

Previously, Scepter had suggested replacing the RCA control with a programable unit that cost about $200. At that price, we were willing to use two controls.

It would be nice to know what code does work with that remote control.

I have the Naga 37" also, and had remote control problems too. We had the 8300 when we had cable, and had to play around with the remote to get it to work by using the Sony codes. It only worked on the up/down and left/right thumb areas.
The volume would not work in the standard volume control. But when you programmed it for Sony, and pressed "tv" the volume worked.
We now have dish, and it is basically the same, but off and on work while in "sat" but have to press "tv" for the volume, then back to "sat" for channels.
It's a pain, but I love the TV.
I almost took it back to Costco for the 42" komodo but decided it wasn't worth the trouble..
Good luck.
Ricky
