Fastback, check out the post "What you need to do to your new HDTV" in the FAQ section, 6th one down on the home page. Your contrast and sharpness are way too high. Brightness looks about right.

57u thanks for your input, but when i set the contrast lower around 40 to 45 and the brightness higher it seems too white or with the brightness lower it's too dark. maybe it's just my room lighting or the setup i have but it seems to have a great lifelike picture at the high a contrast setting but it could also be that i have only had it for 6 days and i dont know yet what it should look like.will these settings hurt the tv?thanks again..:)

The high sharpness setting will not hurt the TV, it'll only hurt your eyes and the quality of the picture. It should likely be closer to 20.

The high contrast setting will hurt your TV.

Get yourself one of the setup DVDs, set it as indicated on the DVD, and then tweak a little from there to suit your eyes, but a contrast level of 100 is not good.

Part of the reason may be that you still have your automatic settings "on". Go into the user menu, I believe it's under "advanced" and turn off all of those automatic settings like SVM, black level, auto colour, etc.
