problem with 51uwx HELP!

i first just wanted to say hello to everyone as iam new to this site.Second I was wondering if any one has experienced my problem.I have the 51uwx,sanyo dvd player,dish network.When watching anything,doesent matter if its the satellite,dvd or ota.Do not have the hd tuner yet,will in 2 weeks,When watching a dvd (for example)when there is an image displayed on the screen,say the 20th century fox symbol at the start of the movie,after the image disappears and the screen goes dark for a few seconds,you can still see the image but it is displayed in red,totally red.Is doing this no matter what you are watching.Also if your watching sat or dvd and turn one of them off will display the image,even if you unplug them.Will not do this if you turn the tv off.Also noticed when watching even if you turn the red down on the menu,it still does it,and the picture has a bit of a red tint to it now.Was excellent when i first got it.Also seems like some of the scan lines dissapear when watching fast moving pictures.Have had a tv repair tech look at it in my house,he was baffled.Also noticed one at circuit city doing the same thing,they never noticed it.Just wondering if any one else has had this problem.Thanks in advance.Been dealing with service center and hitachi for over 2 months to fix this,tv has never left the house.

Wow, that's a bit of a move up. Hope the new one doesn't give you any problems...

yeah me too,i didnt have a great first experience with hitachi,but i still like them.been wanting the 65 anyway,bigger the better,right?

57U, what do you think caused his problem? I just purchased the same TV which should be arriving this Friday.

id say if you just purchased the same tv watch it when its nice and dark,put in a movie and watch after the logo comes up,like 20th century fox or something,watch when it dissappears,thats when i noticed it the most.Also it took me about 3 weeks before i noticed it.Also noticed one at circuit city doing the same thing,they never noticed

I have the exact same problem. Other than that I dont have any issues witht he set. I bought my 51UWX20B about 3 weeks ago and I saw the same thing on the intro of a dvd movie but forgot about it until last night. I was watching the MGM intro on a movie and when it disappeared it was still there in a reddish color. How do I get this fixed or is this how all Hitachi's work?
I do have an extended warrantee but i think it is still within 30 days right now...

I got Circuit City to swap it out. New set is fine. Need to learn the tweaks now.

Unbelievable, I have the same red ghost image after the screen goes black! I noticed it about a week ago (tv is only 3 weeks old). This red image appears every time the screen goes black, always leaving a red image from what was on the screen.

I also had the tv "pop" loudly Saturday and the screen went blank. After a minute or so, the screen came back. I call CC and they are delivering a new 51uwx to me tomorrow. Good thing I caught this before the 30 days were up..

Got the new set today and everything appears ok, cross your fingers for me....

Liek mcarlton, now I need to tweak it using the Avia dvd that I got off ebay...
