View Full Version : Vizio L37 Green Cast

I have bought a Vizio L37 at Costco in the past two weeks. I have played and played with it and for some reason there always seems to be a green cast.

Not so much on HD programming or when watching DVD's but even there it is noticeable in the shadow areas and around different skin tones.

When watching SD programming everything is tinted very green (kind of Lime green).

I have watch DVD's through the Component hook up's, HD programming through the DVI Coax hookup and SD through the "normal" coax hook up from my DirecTV sat receiver. The green is there in all three (much worse on the SD).

I have adjusted all the sliders till I just about sick of fooling with them.

Anything I can do or should I take it back?

Exchange or call for warranty service adjustment.

Arrgh...

Number one, ours eyes have no problem seeing green.

So you will have to either take the display back or have it calibrated where the colors are measured and manipulated in the service menu. If you take it back and trade it for another of the same type, there is a better than even chance the new display might show the same green tint.

I heard you say you have used the sliders.... and are tired of them. Give it one more try.

Adjust the tint/hue until a human face shown under a daylight scene turns more red than green. Then reduce the saturation/chroma/color control until the face has close to natural skin tones. This might make people look better and desaturate the chroma/color portion of the signal to reduce the green somewhat. The problem with this desaturation is that ALL colors will be less vibrant, but it is either that, a new display from another manufacturer or a full calibration of the one you have.

Good Viewing,

Thanks for the input. I think I'm going to be in the "take it back" category.

My biggest problem is I am pretty much limited to a 37" screen. I want one as large as I can get but the space we are putting the screen is only about 39" wide. The 37" size is just right but there aren't too many options.

Panasonic makes a plasma but it shows it's only 1024 instead of the 1366x768 of the Vizio and other models I have seen.

I guess I'll post another thread in the General forum about recommendations on a 37" screen.

Thanks,

Russell
