Which is the best over all value as far as pq, reliability, and quality? I'm mainly upgrading because of the next gen game consoles, i also play to get a hd stb. I'm favoring the panasonic (newer, looks cool), but it doesn't accept 720p from the xbox 360. I know the xbox will also send 1080i, but the toshiba (looks cool, dual hdmi inputs) will accept both and its capable of producing 540p images ( is 540p better than 1080i for video games? Or is there no difference?). Or should i just go with a lcd 32"-37", or are response times still to slow for gaming?
I've been going around in circles about this, any constructive suggestions would be greatly appreciated...thanks for taking to the time to read my post guys. Please give a detailed reason for your choice.
Rock on guys!

Get the Panasonic, i have heard way too many issues with Toshiba sets lately to recommend one for you.

Get the TV that suits you current requirements and positions you for the future.
Yes, there are issues with the Toshiba as well as all of the other brands. No TV today comes from the factory "perfect".
Yes, Toshiba has recently outsourced manufacture of it CRT based TV's to Orion. So what?
Practically every TV manufactured today is using 'outsourced' parts or assembly.
All of the Toshiba whining is based on one person's obsession about the outsourcing (not Matt27's) that participates primarily on another forum.
If there are problems with whatever set you choose, use your warranty service or exchange/refund policy.

I chose the Toshiba 34HFX84. The size fit my needs better and I actually like the PQ better.
Also, I have fortunately not experienced any of the issues that anyone has experienced.

WHAT!!! The Toshiba 34HFX84 is a Toshiba-built TV, and it was Toshiba's final year producing cathode-ray-tube televisions. It has received excellent reviews, has an awesome picture quality, and rarely develops any problems. Consumer Reports rated Toshiba as the most reliable 34" TV brand. I would definitely recommend the Toshiba 34HFX84 over the Panasonic CT-34WX15. I don't recommend the new Toshiba 34HFX85 at all.
hammie, you will not have any trouble with your Toshiba 34HFX84 at anytime soon.

My situation is basically the same and I keep running myself in circles about crt vs other issues, but I am trying to just stick with crt. However, up till now I was going to go with the Toshiba. Now I am taking notice to different model numbers, etc. What is the difference between hf and hfx ,and the 84 and 85. Is one newer than the other? Can you still find the 84 which seems to be the favorite? Also, I don't know if I should be putting this here, but doesn anyone have any opinios about the phillips 34inch crt. The refurbished ones are cheaper than anything else around, so that is what peeks my interest, but I don't want to buy a tv that does not measure up. Thanks for any help in advance. I alway read the responses and I appreciate the opinons and statements given.

If you have can still find 34hfx84, go for it. The 84's are the last model year actually made by Toshiba. They are great TV's. I love mine.
