Just purchased the Toshiba 46HMX85.
Overall happy with set. I am experiencing some rainbow effect.
Very little though. I am fairly close to the TV.
Should I turn on progressive scan on my DVD player?

i don't believe it will remedy the rainbow effect. BUT going progressive scan on your DVD player will improve the picture quality of your movies.

You do have it hooked-up with component cables, right? If not, get yourself a set and hook 'em up. Then enable progressive scan.

Or hookup via HDMI to enable upconversion, if you have it.
