I have a raincheck for the maxent plasma hdtv(not ED) being sold at Costco and with the $300 off coupon it is the lowest hd plasma I have seen. I am also considering the new Sony 42" a10 and the Samsung 42 or 46 " rear projection. I know the Maxent is not the greatest but would it be a better tv than the others mentioned? I will be watching a lot of sd programming and have been told the picture quality on plasma is much better than rear projection when watching sd programs. Also I did notice the Maxent was extremely hot, but the tv was probably on for 8-10 hours before I got there. This has been so frustrating trying to narrow down which tv would be the best. With all the problems all hdtv technologies seem to be having I am tempted to just say screw it and not bother until they have their act together. Any help will be appreciated.

My brother in law just bought this set from Best Buy. It arrives on Friday. I was very impressed with what I saw in the store. We'll see when it gets home.

Yes... BUY IT! You can return is anytime if not satisfied... at least up until one year (save that receipt).
I bought one last week and love it. The only complaint I have is there is a bit of ghosting during very dark sceens... but I have the brightness and contrast turned down quite a bit. I don't think there is a deal that even comes close out there right now for the money.
DO IT. DO IT NOW!

Is Costco return policy 1 year? I thought it was only 30 days. They are suppose to get them on August 24th. I wish I could charge it or get the interest free financing.

I recently bought the Maxent 42VM11 EDTV. I know, I know; Why ED? Well, $1300 and a great picture swayed me. I love the set and it works great so far. Most of my viewing is still SD anyway.
I use an SA 8300HD STB and the 5 available HD channels are beautiful on the Maxent.
I was very close to buying the Maxent 42" HD box but notice that its contrast and brightness ratings were very low when compared to most HD sets. The ED set, on the other hand, has preferable contrast/brightness ratings.
I'm a newbie at this but just can't justify spending $3000 on a nice HD plasma. This EDTV set will get me by until the price is right...
Just wanted to give anyone interested a third party, in-home, opinion.

I just purchased this tv from Best Buy for 1199.00 and I am now trying to find out how to program it to my Dish Remote. It seems to be a common problem and if anyone has a solution, I would appreciate it very much.

I bought a 50 inch from Costco and I figured out the code tonight and it is 1755. It programmed my Comcast DVR.
GREAT TV!!
