Hey I am starting to get very upset. I just got my replacement TV its a Toshiba HDTV 42h82. When I turned it on, I noticed that there is a slight hissing sound coming out of the speakers. I have checked everything including the cable box. It does this on every input (Video1,2,3,HD1,2,etc.) When I mute it, the sound goes away. Is this normal for a new set, cause my first one did not do it.
Thanks Kevin

I think that if you did a Search on some of the HT Forum's, you'll find that that is a common problem with some Toshiba's .
My 42H82 does it, but I don't use the speakers anyway,so it's no big deal to me.
You can have a Toshiba Tech come out and make a quick repair. Toshiba does know the problem exist's, there is a Fix.

Well,
I got my new replacement ordered today. Its a 51 in Widescreen Sony HDTV. For all the crap that bestbuy put me through, they gave me a killer deal. It retails for 2299, I got it for 1800. I love Toshibas, but the last two sets were messed up, so I will try the Sony.

I noticed a slight hiss or buzz in my new 42HDX82 only when I did something with the remote... I turned the light off on the remote and the noise went away. It was only a very slight noise and I don't think I could hear it when the volume was up anyway. This wasn't your problem was it Kevin?

hey i have that hiss also (speakers) i believe the other noise discussed here is actually the remote itself, try pressing a button to make the light come on and put your ear up to it... the indiglo backlight is very audible.......wierd.
Toshiba fixes the speaker hiss by adding a capacitor to one of the circuit boards, however, sometimes they don't use the right capacitor and the hiss is simply reduced instead of eliminated. Make sure you're happy before the tech leaves...
