I purchased this 52" at BestBuy and the picture is good, but I get a burst of static periodically in the audio. Contacted Cox Cable and they said the lines were fine. Exchanged the TV and had Cox come out again for the same issue. All is fine, according to them, but still get the burst of static or crackling. The set is directly wired from the wall.

Do you have a DVD player or something else hooked up you can try? Does it crackle then?

I assume you're just using the internal tuner for cable.

Do you have another TV (portable?) to connect to the cable feed?
If it happens on another TV, that pretty much points at Cox as the trouble.

But, if you've had two TV's present the same symptoms, I'd suspect Cox as being the source of the problem.

I have another TV and not an LCD which shows no signs of the problem. I have not tried to hook up the DVD as I wanted to keep the problem as isolated as possible.

And you connected the 'spare' TV using the same cable from the wall?

Sounds strange that two Zenith TV's present the same symptoms, but anything's possible.

I'd suggest the 'next step' would be to hook up the DVD player and see if the problem occurs.

This is not a Zenith problem. In our area (Fort Myers, Fl.) we have run across many sets which exhibit a similar audio problem. It normally occurs on local commercials and is a problem with the cable company. Other sets may not show the problem and if your set is taken to another cable company or even to the same cable company across town it probably will not exhibit the problem either. What is beginning to occur is a compatibility problem between certain brands of televisions and cable companies. Comcast in this area and the sets made by Orion for JVC and Toshiba are the main problems we have. Good luck but I really do not believe you are going to be able to solve the problem using the same brand and model of television.

I have the same problem I'm trying to get fixed. I was told by the first technician that it was a software issue stemming from the signals getting crossed up. He said there is a fix but he had to get it downloaded to his laptop and the he could download it from his laptop to the tv.

He came in about 10 days ago and looked at my unit. I haven't had the fix downloaded yet because I haven't been able to reschedule the appt. I'll let you know when they get in here if it helps fix the problem.
