Hey all...
I wanted to ask for advice on how I should proceed with this problem. I was wondering if anyone else has had to deal with a similiar problem(s) with any brand set and if anyone has ever had to go as far as consulting a consumer protection/fraud organization to get help.

I bought this LG from a Good Guys in Beaverton, OR on Feburary 15th 2005....

I had it for 3 days and started having a problem at start up where the units "warm-up" orange indicator lamp would flash for 30-40 seconds while the creen stayed dark. Then suddenly the screen would turn bright red for a miilisecond and then to a solid bright blue. Then the actual picture would slowly brighten in over the next 10-15 seconds but the dominant blue tint would remain.
After three weeks of this I finally got Good Guys to replace the unit but the replacement did the same thing. Good Guys/LG/Harmony and myself eventually figured out the cause was the Harmony remote which was turning everything on at the same time and the multiple frequencies and interference was confusing the DLP's XD Engine boot process and it would misfire??? I timed the macros out on the remote to turn the T.V. on last and several seconds after everything else had been switched. Problem solved...I kept the second T.V. and assumed all was good.

About a week and a half later, and just 2 days outside my 30-day return window at Good Guys, I noticed the picture getting darker by the end of that week the TV had completely quit and would flash the "lamp trouble" warning light during start up and the kick back to standby....$2500 paperweight!
I called LG who promptly initiated a service call for a tech to come out. It took tech two weeks to get out to my place where he inspected the TV and found the bulb to be burned out and the ballast to be bad. He ordered parts whick took another two weeks to get here and then turned out to be the wrong ones because LG had supposedly converted my TV to an upgraded engine as part of an "in-house" or "pre-distributor" recall??? (Service guy told me this??) New parts come two weeks later and are installed on April 25th.
It is now May 7th and I came home, plopped on the the couch to watch the the Mavericks/Rockets game and the TV's warm up light came on....flashed three times and then kicked back to standby....tried turning it on on several dozen times and this repeats....Paperweight once again.......

I am beside myself with unparalelled fury! :shootout:

What do I do?

Any advice would be appreciated......

Danny

I would suggest dealing with LG (again). There is such a thing as a lemon law (not positive it applies to electronics) and IF the same problem occurs and is repaired 3 times, you are supposed to get a new set or your $$$ back. IF you bought an extended warranty, it should include this 'lemon policy'.

Have you talked to good guys and asked if you could trade the TV for a different brand? They MAY allow you to do that.

I also bought an LG DLP ( RT-44SZ21 ) One of my biggest mistakes ever.
After only 2 weeks the picture started to get darker and darker and eventually after 6 weeks the glob blew. LG were no help at all. They refered me to there service agent who reponded with " big problem , can't get globes, maybe 5-6 weeks befor they become availble. Leveing me with a big boat abchore in my lounge. I eventually found anouthe supplier of globes and after a week and $600 managed to get my 2 month old LG goinbg again. I kept calling LG and eventually after 3 months they sent me a new globe. No apolagies whatsover. And just to make things better I have just discovered that it was the wrong globe. Anyway now 13 months latter and the LG has turned up its toes again. There is now a six inch wide black line on the left of the screen. Called for a servise again. They didnt turn up in the morning when they promissed. ( dont worry abou me having to take 1/2 a day of work.
I jumped up and down a delivery man turned up in the afternoon. He looked at the TV , made a few phone calls and advised my wife that it would cost $2300 to replace the " Optical Engine". And no he couldn,t do it he was just a delievy man and didnt know anything about repairs. He was just there to pick it up. So much for the techniction comming. We thanked him for the official repair quote" Scribled on a pice of not paper". I guess we coudnt expect much more form LG at this point.
Well this is where we are today. Having spend $5000 on the original unit, $600 on a globe it has lkasted me 14 months. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont touch LG as from my experienec its CRAP.
