Check out the specs on the HPT-4250H 42" Hd tv all for under 2k. Anyone heard anything about this tv. Almost sounds too good to be true, 5000:1 C/R, 1000 cd/m2 brightness, DVI input and it has an LG panel. The odd part is walmart seems like the only one who carries it, I can't find any info on the net. The model isn't even on the Hyundai IQ site. Any thoughts on this mystery HD Plasma

Chris,
Re: HPT-4250H
We saw the same tv and are considering purchasing it. It looks pretty good, especially with an additional three year warranty. Any other feedback about this product?

I too have been wondering about this 42" plasma. I think it begins shipping in a few days. 'Wonder if anyone will do a review online? We're in the market for a 42" and this unit looked very interesting.

I think the shipping date got pushed back to 5/15. according to another poster crutchfield already sold 30-40 units. We should be hearing feedback some time in mid may, guess we're gonna have to wait :boo2:

Anybody able to find info/review for Hyundai HPT-4250H at Wal-Mart yet??

If the Hyundai plasma is anything like my Hyundai 19" DVI-input LCD monitor, I'd grab it in a flash. I'm not sure I'm up to being a guinea pig on it yet though, although it should be a pretty safe buy from Wal-Mart; - just be out the shipping cost if I had to return it...

:stop: I asked the question from Walmart Customer Service what would happen if you ordered the Hyundai set, didn't like it and wanted it returned. The answer? Return it to any local Walmart store and get a full purchase price refund including tax, less any shipping. (Est. at $68). This was on April 26th.
Last night I went to the website to order and it now reads NO RETURNS. You must contact the mfg.
I have sent another email with no response so far. BUYER BEWARE.

I ordered This set on the 20th of April. It was shipped on the 29th. One of the reasons I bought it from Walmart on line was the return policy. Sunday May 1st I noticed on the Walmart web site and saw the notice of no returns. Is there some problem with the set? Are there too many returns already? A Walmart customer rep told me since I bought the set before the notice was posted I should be able to return it. Some one is suposed to contact me by Wed the 4th with an answer. I called the company listed on Walmart's site and they sounded OK. Just worried there is a problem with the unit and too many people are returning them. I'll let you know what happens.

Did you get your TV yet? I ordered mine on 4/4, the ship date has moved 3 times and when I called 2 days ago all I was told was that I wouldn't receive it until sometime in June. Just curious if any of these are really shipping and how they look if they are.

Head on over to consumerreports.org and log into the forum area. There is a subscriber there who reports receiving the panel and said the picture was of high quality and purchased a three year service contract for around $80. I will wait for a few more postings with satisfaction before taking the plunge.

Just wanted to rest everyone fears of purchasing this television. I took a chance and purchased the 4250H. It was a great purchase and worth every penny. This t.v. has a fantastic picture and the price cannot be matched at any store. You will not be sorry with the high definition quality. I am going to purchase the three year warranty as well. I had the plasma installed about two weeks ago and have been watching it ever since. The NBA and Major League Baseball games on TNTHD and ESPNHD are amazing. Do not hesitate, this is a great buy and I have no reason to promote this television. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am truly satisfied. Hope you enjoy the new Hyundai HPT 4250H as much as I am. :hyper:

My 4250H came yesterday and I installed it in the afternoon. Analog cable for now with cheap coax connection. Result? Do not hesitate buying this unit. Great performance at a great price. Comcast Digital with HDTV will be installed on Monday and will report update then.

I do not see the external speakers listed anymore on walmart.com.... Anyone know the item # or model #? How good (or bad) are the internal speakers?
Thanks

IMO... all TV's internal speakers sound bad.

Very true, which is why I was interested in the external set. Walmart does still have them listed, but they are "out of stock". Hopefully whey will be back in stock shortly!

I'm going to need those speakers, too. I hope they come back in stock soon.
Do you guys really think this TV screams quality? Walmart and hyundai seems like a combination for a bad experience. Hell look at the cars they make.

I have heard/read good things about the cars, plus they have one of the best warranties in the industry. Years ago I would have been suspect about Hyundai autos, not now.
As for the electronics they have been one of the larges international semiconducter producers in the world. Is the venture into consumer electronics safe for the US consumer? Hard to tell but they have been around awhile overseas.
Beware name brand purchases with out research> you may not be getting what you think you are.

I noticed a few of you mentioned buying the 3 year extended warranty from Walmart for about $80. I'm getting ready to buy this TV, and I don't see that option available on the site. Have they stopped offering it?
The only one I see is this, which is about $300:

Saw your post and just received this plasma. It seems they just upped the 3 year plan. I compared my 82 plan with the one you linked at 298 and they are identical. They are now more on par with BestBuy.
Btw, I love this tv and after a lot research think this has to be the hottest budget deal on a hdtv plasma. Just still searching for a working remote code . . .

That's what I was afraid of. I'ms till trying to decide between this and the Dell 42 HDTV. It just went on sale to $2600 including a wall mount and shipping, and my brother-in-law can get an additional 12% off. I wish I could see this Hyundai in person.

I have owned this TV for the past 3 months. Never really had a problem with the picture. To my eye, the picture looks great even though I am getting Analog cable. Picture improves as the quality of the broadcast improves. I am sure that when I get Digital cable, it will be even better. DVD playback via the DVI imput is really good. Better the componant or S video. I am very happy with the picture from my DVD player. As for sound, why get the optional speakers because you should be using your 6.1 or 7.1 receiver. I did not upgrade the stand either. TV has DVI rather then HDMI. DVI is better option because video is what you want goign to the plasma not the audio you get from HDMI. You run audio to your receiver not the TV.
The only complaints are as follows. 1. The Master ON/OFF switch is not mentioned in owners manual. I was lost for 30 minutes not knowing how to turn it on. Took a call to support to figure how to turn it on when I first set it up. 2. Support. Not the brighest group of people. When support is at lunch, do not expect much. I called 3 times and talked to the same person. Maybe only 1 support rep. Did not know what HTCP was. They can handle simple issues. 3. No working remote code available if you want to use a universal remote. I am told that it may be available some time in the future. Who knows. 4. Warrantee. Do not know how this will work because of the 3rd party vendor for help. But on the positive, I got the 3 year extended warrantee by Walmart so this is Walmarts problem. LOL
As with most electronics, it takes your own eye to get what looks good for you. Also one does need to know that there are only 3-4 plasma makers. Everyone else uses parts from them to make their own brand name. So I would disagree with anyone saying that because it is called a Hyundai it has to be a poor quality product. This is not the case for me. LG has a good reputation for electronics and this Hyundai is an LG in a different wrapping. Could you buy better? Is there a better plasma TV?? Of course but is it really worth spending $2k more for. Naw.
I hope my comments and views helps.

I believe that the display resolution would be dependant on the card sending it the picture.

This is my first post. I just acquired my first HDTV plasma TV and I started looking for info on it. Not a lot is available on the Hyundai HPT-4250H, so I decided to write my own review. I posted it online.
Now, I am part of a lot of forums, so I know it is generally frowned upon to be posting links to outside websites, especially in one's first post. But I believe my review is the first on-line review of the Hyundai HPT-4250H.
If anyone wants the link, please contact me via PM.
Now - allow me to peruse the rest of this forum...

Well, I'm not a professional reviewer, but I did my best (http://www.funkyplasma.com).
My cable company will be hooking me up with HDTV in a couple of days, so I think I will be updating the review with how the plasma renders HDTV. If anyone is interested in more info, you are welcome to ask.

Well, for those following this TV, it looks like Wal-Mart has cut its price by $100. The Huyndai Hpt-4250H is now $1898 (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=WKBJJTn8dzE&offerid=64951.3639068&type=2&subid=0). :)
