View Full Version : One pixel shines all the time on plasma screen

My new Vizio P42HDe plasma TV has a consistent brilliant green one pixel square on screen all the time when TV is on. Very noticable and distracting once noticed, by me anyway. (My wife has not commented on it yet...).

1. Is this single bright green spot a matter of concern?
2. Can it be "fixed"?
3. Is it a matter which probably would requre a return of the TV?

4. Would the TV screen (remember, it's plasma) be harmed if I tried hiding the tiny pixel with an appropriate size of, say, black or dark grey tape plastered over top of it's location on screen? Maybe another color would be better for universal colors that come up on-screen?

Is such an anomaly common on plasma TVs?

Thank you.

This issue is very common. Most warranties have a "number and placement" of such pixels allowed. (fewer at the center, more at the edges).

You could try returning it if they'll let you, but they don't have to accept it back unless the place you purchased it has a "no conditions" return policy.

That's not to say the same thing couldn't happen again, as it's quite common.

You can't fix it.

Dead pixel friend. Cant fix. Swap it out if you can.

Thanks, guys. But what about my "solution" of pasting a very, very tiny bit of tape over it? Harm the screen?

Your choice...
dead pixel (leave as is)
tape (not my choice and probably will not harm the screen)
return/exchange/service (if still under warranty)

I just returned my Fujitsu P50 with a similar problem for a new one. I cannot understand how putting a piece of tape or any other obstruction on it could be acceptable as you would, in effect, be throwing away that little piece of the beautiful image.

I'm living with it. Neither COSTCO, where I bought the TV, nor Vizio, who built it wanted to do anything about it. I'm particularly disappointed in COSTCO's position about it. Anyway, thanks for thinking of me! <g>

Apparently not. I was told it had to be returned within 30 days...just like places like Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit city, etc.
