I have the HDTV c34w37.
I just bought a yamaha progressive scan DVD player and I do not see an interface for it. Just a 480i jack. Does anyone know if this tv can handle the prograssive signal.
RIght now my tv has two images on it if I put the DVD player in progressive mode.
Thanks

Please don't cross post...
Your TV should have two sets of component inputs that handle 480i/480p/720p/1080i per Zenith's website, you'd hook the component out on the DVD player to the component in on your TV.

Yes your tv is able to output progressive mode. Connect your dvd player to your tv using component cables. If you are using s-Video cables or yellow video cables it will not output progressive scan. How is you dvd player connected to your tv??

There is no 480p input on the tv just the 480i on the back. Thats why I foudn it so confusing..
Sorry about crossing the posts.

What's confusing me is the specs for that TV mention no 480i component jack, I just looked up the manual online and it's showing two component inputs that can handle 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i... So either the manual is wrong or you posted the wrong model number...

Let's see progressive. Your TV specs say that it can output at 480i, 480p, 1080i. It should output whatever signal your components send to it. Is your DVD player and upscale DVD player? Usually when a display shows 2 or 3 screens of the same thing it is trying to output at 720p mode. Your TV specs show your display outputs at only 480i/p and 1080i, but no 720p (it can accept 480i/p, 720p, 1080i signals to the input, but will only display 480i/p, 1080i ). Now you just bought your dvd player, right? is your DVD player an upscale player and maybe trying to play at 720p??

If it's playing at 720p and the TV accepts 720p, then it should be internally scaling it to a resolution the TV can handle...

it is an upscale DVD it came with teh yamaha yht755. The DVD player has several option for tv type, no matter what I change Iget teh double picture...I see the same thing in my manual i get offline about teh differnt jacks. However the back model numer is the one I posted about.

Don't know what to tell you then other then not to use progressive scan on your player if your TV only accepts 480i over component. It's just strange the manual lists something different.
You don't have an upscaling player by the way, just a progressive one.

By the way, it sounds like you have a C34W23.... Do you have one set of components that only accepts 480i and the other that only accepts 1080i?

yeah one set that accepts the 480i and the 1080i...so they must have given me the wrong book....so I guess I am out of luck until I drop some coin and by another high priced tv...thanks for the help.

Yeah, you are just going to have to run the DVD player interlaced for now.

That's too bad. I have never heard of an HDTV that didn't display progressive scan signals. I know composite inputs cannot display PS, but I thought all component inputs are capable of PS..... :(

I have that TV also. You can connect the progressive scan DVD player to component1 or component2. It works fine on mine.
