infrared unit on tv just stopped working

hi, i purchased a hdx50 tv 34 days ago (4 days past return date). the infrared unit stopped working and now i have to put my beer down and get up off the couch everytime i want to make any changes to the set ( picture size, video input, etc.). i was using a multi device remote at the time and that doesn't work. so i tried the original tv remote, that also does not work. i have to conclude that whatever device is responsible for receiving commands from the remote is no longer working.

has anyone else had this problem? is there an easy fix or do i have to make a service call?

Try unplugging your set for a while to "reset" it. Since two remotes are not working, it's unlikely that it's the remote, check the batteries? Try the remote up really close? Can't think of much else.

If it doesn't reset, call the service line and they may have a hint or two. If not, it might necessitate a service call.

i unplugged the tv to "reset" it...AND IT WORKS!!!!! thank you for sharing your knowledge and your time. i really appreciate it.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. Just like a computer, the old "reboot" (without the "boot" - never kick your TV) worked.:)

If you ever get the Flashing Red power light you need to do the same thing. The flashing light indicates a circuit fault. Everytime you turn on the TV it doeas a self diagnostic.
