When playing video games there are noticeable black bars on each side of the screen (no matter which PIC SIZE is used). The one on the left is about an inch wide, and the one on the right is about 1/4 inch. When you switch to "natural" both outside edges are somewhat concave. When using the Ovaition disk test pattern you can see that the picture appears offset to the right. TV & DVD viewing appear to be fine. Had a technician out who couldn't find anything wrong. Any ideas?

The black bars, and widths, sound exactly like mine originally.

First, what video game console are you using? Are you playing in Progressive Scan mode on the specific game? Do you have your console setup correctly to run on a 16:9 monitor? (the PS2 you need to change this setting within booting w/no game in console).

Even an Xbox (usually always ProScan) and some PS2 games (have it built-in) will give you the black bars, regardless. Usually in a ProScan game though, if you go Full Screen, it should take most of it away, and if it doesn't, then you may have to go into Service mode and check out the HPOS, etc. settings that will move/stretch the image...but just a bit.

I don't have time to get into the details on the settings to change (they are on the site/forum), but this is what I had to do, as well...and now there are no black bars within my consoles, and everything is proportioned correctly still.

Thanks. We have Gamecube and Playstation. It does it on all games no matter what settings or outputs are used. Gamecube even offers a screen left to right adjustment, which just changed the location of the bars. It wouldn't be such a annoyance if the bars were remotely the same size. Looks like I will check out the service menu adjustment. I saw another post done recently about a similar problem with a cable box, and the suggestion was the screen adjustment in the service menu.
