does anybody know if the hdx82 line of hdtvs are able to display a true 720 signal, or does it just upconvert/downconvert? thanks in advance.
Since many Toshibas guts are made by Hitachi, I'm pretty sure they accept 720P signals, but that they are upconverted to 1080i, just like the Hitachis. There are very few RPTVs that natively display 720P.

Technology and Benefits:

Improved IDSC™ Pro
This new feature maintains all the benifits of IDSC™ Pro, then adds the ability to accept 720p HDTV signals. The TV will convert all 720p signals to 1080i before display.
Quote from Toshiba's website about the 65HDX82.

Now I have read that it excepts 720p then converts to 1080i but this does not make sense if you read the web sight.
We gotta quit post'n at the same time :D

I doubt you could see the difference unless you were Joe Kane(Ovation/Avia developer).
