I have the DishNetwork 501 with the PVR recording feature. I have tried many ways to record onto a VHS tape some of the movies I've saved on the Hard Drive of the receiver. Every time it just tapes a blue screen. The way I have it set up is everything going straight into the tv. I then tried to connect the satellite receiver directly to the vcr. Same thing. I consider myself mildly intelligent when hooking up devices like this but this is my first experience with HDTV. Back in the days of my 25" tv, it was all connecting through coax cables. Now with the different inputs, I try to watch the satellite on video 1 and the vcr is connected through video 2. Can anybody help? I hope this is enough information. I couldn't find any help in the FAQ's.

Thanks

How do you have the dish connected to the VCR? IF using composite video or S-video, you need to "tune" the VCR to that input - sometimes "channel 0", sometimes listed as something else depending on your VCR - see the VCR menu setup.

There is an FAQ on Connecting a VCR - That may help, just concentrating on the connections between the STB and VCR...

Don't forget about the anlogue audio connection. When you have everything hooked up properly and the VCR hooked up to the TV, you should be able to "see" the signal from the STB coming through the VCR.
