I got another question for you experts here. I read various posts on several discussion threads on the best ways to connect the incoming cable to your TV. Right now, I have it:

Cable from the wall going to a Monster splitter - 1 to my STB and 1 directly to my TV.

Then I read that some people feed the cable directly to their TV then connect their STB to the Coax out from their TV.

Any advantages either way? It takes some effort for me to swap and test out different connections due to access to my cables. Right now, I'm pretty happy with the picture quality of both SD and HD channels. But wanted to see if anybody had the latter setup and what their opinion(s) may be.

Thanks.

If it looks good, leave it.

IMO, you have it connected with the best method.

By doing either of these, does this allow the use of the TV's pip? I assume that with either of these options, you would then connect the STB to the TV via the component connections. Right?

Also, does it matter what type of STB it is (cable, sat, OTA tuner)?

Thanks.

Ditto what Ratman said. I do it with a splitter too.

With my current setup (via splitter), it allows PIP (or POP per Toshiba). Either way you still have to connect your STB via component or HDMI to your TV to enable HD. The STB in my case is Time Warner cable...but it can be Sat or OTA.

Anyway...thanks to all the chimed in. I'll keep it connected 'as-is' since its looking pretty good.
