Some of you may have seen this in you Sunday paper flyers. BB is running this model at $4999, less $500 rebate, less $500 in store credit, less $275 for their rewards program, brought the price of this model in well under $4000.
Seemed like a great deal to me, so I jumped. I assume they are clearing the decks for a new model.

Eric,
Can you please tell me how much did u pay instore and how much rebate you are getting. I am interrested in buying this Plasma TV. When I called they told me that for 4 years the guarantee is 600 dollars. Can u please tell me how you got it for 400 dollars. The price I see online is 5500 - 500 Gift card - 500 Edollars coupon which we should redeem within one month after getting the ecoupon = 4500. Can you please give me any additional information to get a good price.
Thanks,
Hemanth

I got in on the $500 error BB made at some stores and their internet site the first day and half of the sale. The tag on the shelf said "4999.99 less $500 rebate". They had to honor that price since it was tagged that way. The 4999.99 was the break point between the $400 and $600 warranty. So some of us got real lucky and saved $500 on the error and $200 on the warranty. We also get the $500 rebate, the $500 gift card and the nearly $300 in rewards points gift card. A hell of a deal for a Pioneer. But even if I had to pay $700 more it would have been an excellent price compared to other 50" plasma's.

I got in on this deal too except the store had already made the price correction. I do have one question about this TV. Does the PDP-5041HD have HDMI inputs??? The specification section on Pioneer's website mentions two HDMI inputs (with HDCP) for the PDP-5040HD, BUT the manual I downloaded from Pioneer's website doesn't show or talk about the HDMI inputs. Is the manual old? Thanks.

Hello gmnelson:
I have the PDP5040HD, and it has two HDMI inputs on the back on the media receiver.
You can also see visual evidence of the inputs here:

It's weird that they have the CV inputs as yellow-red-white. That could confuse more than a few people...

This is exactly what happened to me. I had gone to BB to buy the 43" model, but the price as listed was exactly the same on the 50". The guys in the store could not explain this to me at the time. I guess we know why.

What are those CV inputs used for?

The CV inputs are used as an input for component video sources such as DVD players, HDTV receivers, PS2, etc.

As in this picture:

But take notice that they are labled properly Y,Pb,Pr.
Apparently... 57U was correct, it did confuse someone. :)
