Looking for a possible buy. Like what I'm seeing in Mits. trying to see any dif in these two on the spec. Am I missing something or are there none? Is it just cosmetics. Thax, Robert

Did the same comparison recently. Went with the 65869 because it was a little cheaper, has a proven track record and has more inputs. Don't ask me why a newer model would have less inputs, but Mits did it. Make sure you get an extended warranty.
Had the TV for about a month an I'm very satisfied. I recently purchased the Panasonic R62 DVD progessive scan player - awesome!
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the "ONLY" reply. I am still looking, as a matter of fact my son and I will look at some sets today. Am being steered towards Toshiba particularly TW65H80 and still considering any of the BIG FOUR names, but I still like the Mits. Thanks, Robert
I purchased a WS65511 two weeks ago. The improvements over the previous year model is NetCommand 2.0 (basically greater support for legacy AV gear). When I was doing my research, I thought there were the same number of inputs?
Bottom line, I am very happy with the 65511.

Went with the 65869 ($3,288) + $450.00 for a 5 yr. ext. war. that says (anything) yeah right, we'll see. So far it's great and I love it. Btw, it's a nice piece of furniture not that I bought it for that but it does present itself well even when it turned off. Now all I need to do is get things hooked up properly, all I have right now is the cable and New Pana. prog. scan Dvd. Does anyone know of a thread that may have tried and true set-ups for this tv? Also, I ordered the Avia disk last nite from Amazon. Thanks Robert

I suggest a good surge protector. Maybe Acoustic Research. Monster brands are over priced. The Avia disk will only adjust the DVD settings on the TV. I had to adjust the setting for satelight reception and HD myself.

Just a question on the Avia DVD that was mentioned in a post here... I used the DVD on my TV's component inputs from the DVD player, but also hooked up the DTV inputs and did the tests again... even though the DVD player is only giving you 480p on the 1080i capable inputs, will it not work that way? It seemed to make a nice difference in picture quality when I switched back the inputs and watched Charlie's Angels on HDHBO.
Just my 2 cents

You would think that since we all have the same TV, the same adjustments will work for everyone. This is just not the case. I don't believe what you did will work all the time. That's like hooking up one DVD player, then swaping it with another and assuming your picture will be the same. When you change your DVD player you should rerun the Avia disk. I took the settings from my DVD hookup and used it as a starting point when adjusting other components. My final settings were notibly different for each component.
