First time posting here - just found this board. Looks like some great info buried in these msg threads!

I searched for any discussions on my Toshiba model, the TN55X81 (standard 4:3 bought in 2000?), but didn't find anything. When I bought this set I specifically remember researching and being assured it would upconvert 720p. I have a couple of different Scientific Atlanta boxes from Cox cable and cannot get my set to accept a 720p input signal. 1080i works fine but I would like to see the difference on a few channels if my box is outputting 720p instead of 1080i. I'm using SA Explorer 3250HD and 8000HD boxes. I *can* force the 3250HD to 720p on my Samsung SyncMaster 171MP and it looks spectacular with ESPNHD.

Do the DTV vs. DVD settings for the Colorstream inputs in config have any affect on upconversion? Am I doing something wrong here or does the TN55X81 just not accept 720p?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to HDTVoice.

I downloaded the manual for you set and couldn't find any reference to accepting 720p as an input. 480i, 480p and 1080i only.

It does not accept or display 720p.
