I was just reading through some of the threads about removing the anti-reflective screen. The store I bought it from can send a tech to remove the screen, but they said once its removed, thats it not going back. So I thought I ask from owners who have removed the screen, if they have any regrets. Also how greatly will the picture improve. I heard mainly its suppose to help during daytime, but at night, the picture looks the same with the screen on or off. Thanks.

Splicer (check some his posts) says it was a dramatic improvement. YMMV

I found 2 posting by him. And he pretty much said, its a drastic improvement, but never went into details. Also reading about the screen bending is scaring me, so I am having second thoughts about removing the glare screen. I have a 65H84.

Here's my verdict (on a 57H83): It's anything but anti-reflective. I haven't taken the screen off, because I have a 2-year-old. Otherwise, I'd be tempted to do so.

Do you have pets? Small children or a dusty house? If yes then removing the screen is not wise. First it is not really anti -reflective but a protection device from flys, kids sodas, dog nose prints, dust etc. Unlesss you live in a sealed protected envirorment your screen could be in for damgage.

I wouldn't do it. I have 2 dogs & a 18 month old grandbaby. She walked up to it & tried to pat ELMO. When I saw how hard she hit ELMO I was glad the screen was in place. My 57H83 has a perfect picture in a very bright room.

Recently bought my 57H84. I was worried about reflection. I have two skylights, 3 windows and a slider in my room. Haven't had a problem yet, but only time will tell. My final verdict won't come until a full year has gone by

It bothered me a little in that I noticed it more on the H than I do on my HX...but it wasn't a major factor. There was one light that is located between the two sweet spots that I'd have to turn off with the H, but if it really bothered me, I would have just picked up one of those "in-line" dimmers that clamps onto the lamp cord.
