Greeting All!
I am looking at purchasing my first Home Theater TV and wanted to get some opinions on the setup.
The centerpiece will, of course, be the Toshiba 50H72.
DVD player will be the Panasonic RP-82.
Amp is an RCA that was donated to the cause by an inlaw. Unf. it doesn't have digital or co-ax in, but it has a broken out 5.1 RCA inputs, so I'll be using those.
Front speakers were some donated Optimus, center and rear are KLH speakers. Since the amp I have doesn't have a pre-amp output for the center speaker, I guess I'm stuck with using the separate speaker for the center.
As you can tell, I'm spending more on the video subsystem than the audio. I'm getting into 5.1 sound, which is a huge step up from the 2.0 I have at the moment, so spot upgrades to that can happen later. The TV & DVD player should last me a while, though.
I don't have a ton of cash to blow on the endeavor, but the 50H72 seems to be a great comprimise box between a 36" direct view and a 50H81 or something with better image quality.
Agree? Disagree? Am I nuts?
For the record, I'll probably spend about equal time on 16:9 sources and 4:3 sources (TV & TV DVDs).
Thanks for any recommendations!
