I've been having issues for some with this set. with my DVD player hooked into it through component, I get this banding of the image on the left side of the screen. Faint lines running vertical.

I called a repairman, and he told me to replace the set. I did that, and I thought it was fixed...

But it's not, I get the same lines. Which leads me to believe it is my DVD player.

But now, I see the lines on broadcast cable. Could they have bunred into the image?

Has anyone heard of anything like this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

The TV probably needs a minor adjustment with the geometry settings (overscan, horz. position). Call repair... they can make the adjustment(s) via the service menus.

I have a Philips 34PW850H37F widescreen HDTV and had the same problem with the lines. It was under warranty and the TV repair shop has had the TV for almost 4 weeks now and Philips is replacing the TV. I have a feeling it is going to happen again. The lines showed up on DVDs and my DirectV.

That model could possibly be flawed, or something that philips didn't see before the manufacturing process.Or it just could be a lemon, they are out there.

If your looking to replace it try the 30" 30pw8402 it is the newest model on the line and has no problems what so ever, check it out.

So, I talked with my local Philips repair place in town, and they ordered a kit to fix what they called, "Jail bars." These bars were only visible through the component in jacks. They had it for a week, and now it plays DVD's pretty much flawlessly.

Good news... you're fortunate that your Philips tech seems to be competent and pehaps persistent!

Enjoy!
