I have A Zenith C32V37 which I really do like....but I also am experiencing better picture quality using the S-Video than the component video. I have tried upgrading the component cables following the suggestions on a different thread elsewhere here and noticed a slight improvement...but the picture is still better using the S-Video. I have "calibated" the set using Avia. I have noticed this problem regarding Zenith posted on Amazon also. Is it a manufacturing problem, or has someone found a solution to this odd problem?

I have the the Zenith C32V37 and am experiencing the same problem with the component video picture not being as good as the s-video input. I have yet to play with some of the Zenith picture-enhancement features (turn them off) to see if that makes the picture any better. I love the other features of this TV but I'm extremely disappointed if I won't be able to get a good progressive scan picture on a HDTV. Does anyone else have this model and get a good component video picture?
It is possible that the DVD players that you both have don't do a good job of deinterlacing the 480i signal to 480P. Therefore the 480P signal looks worse than the 480i.
Another possibility is that the TV has a native display of 1080i and does a better job of upconversion from 480i than 480P. If this is the case a better DVD player may not help at all.

Thanks 57U - maybe I can borrow a better DVD player to check it out. I'm using a $100 DVD/VCR combo and I probably got what I paid for. The C32V37 has a native display of 480 from the web info I've found, it's a great TV for the price, HDTV looks great, perhaps your suggestion will take care of the component video.

Is the picture better only on the DVD players 'S'video output? Do you have any other signal source besides the DVD player?
Television adjustments using tha AVIA or DVE on your DVD player will almost certainly be different with any other source. Have you tried to re-calibrate using the component outputs of the DVD player or just the 'S' video output?
Also, nice as those DVD/VCR combos may seem, MOST (not all) are not designed nor suited for a primary home theater environment. Normally these are good quality secondary units for the bedroom, den, office etc...They are not bad units at all, just not up to par to a dedicated DVD or VCR player. For the best possible picture, get dedicated units. Short term=more $$$ but long term =less trouble (generally speaking of course. take what is written with a grain of salt and use your own experiences/preferences to help guide you).

I, for one, am getting a fantastic picture on my C32V37 with the component cables with Cable HD, Xbox and DVD (Panasonic DVD-S47) signals. SD cable channels come in a lot better with S-video. I'll admit I haven't tried out the Xbox or DVD player with S-video cables, but from what I've seen, I'm quite happy with what I have.
